Please label each box/case/carousel if you would like to have specific folder names.
If you have lots of loose slides we suggest you do the following:
1.
Carefully sort and organize your slides. Only send in the ones you want to have scanned.
2. Group the slides and label what you want the groups called. (Ex: "Mary's 1st Birthday" or "California Trip 1998" etc).
Then within each group, create subgroups by film size. (all the 35mm together, all the 110 together). Many people
stick each group of slides into a zip lock bag and then write on the bag with a sharpie or stick a little piece of paper
in the bag with the label for that group. People also Put small rubber bands around each stack of slides so they don't
move around in the baggies. Other boxes and systems work well also.
3. We will put the finished scans into folders according to your labels.
4. Other suggestions for grouping your slides:
• If any of the slides have mold on them that you want removed with our special mold removal process they need to
be sorted and segregated from the mold free ones and labeled as moldy.
• Put the slides in neat stacks all facing with the long side the same way. Oriented the same way and with the same
side up. (Usually wording like "This side towards screen" or "Made in USA" or "Kodachrome" appear on the edges).
Make all the words go the same way. It doesn't matter which way the picture is as long as the mounts are facing the
same way and rotation.
• One side of each slide has the emulsion on it. Most of the time the slides must be fed into the scanner with the
emulsion side the same way (except for Seattle Film works Slides which are backwards).
•Put different slide sizes together. We have to stop and change setting on the scanner and restart every time there is
a switch from 35mm to 126, or from the rectangle ones to the little square ones. If the same sizes and shapes were
together that would be helpful.
5. Need a box? The USPS will drop off a express box or priority box at no charge right to your door. Or use any other
carrier you feel comfortable with along with any deliver confirmation or insurance you need.
6. Print out the order form, link is at the top of the page. Fill it out and put it in the box.
7. Send them in!
8. If all of that is too much, just put them all in a box with the order form and we will figure it out.
